O'Kane Engineering awarded Cuillelea 2 Wind Farm

O' Kane Engineering Limited has been awarded the electrical design and build of Cuillelea 2 Wind Farm, Which is located 6km from the town of Kiltimagh in County Mayo. The project consists of the design, installation and commissioning 20kV switchgear and cables which will be connected to 2 No 850kW Vestas turbines which will be supplied by Vestas Celtic Wind Technology LTD.

The turbine control and monitoring will be carried out via multicore fibre optic cables; the project is to run from the 12/02/10 to the 18/05/10.

When completed the output of the Cuillelea Wind Farm will increase from 3.4 MW to 5.1 MW.

The project manager for Cuillelea 2 Wind Farm is Wind Prospect Ireland. Wind Prospect is one of the most successful independent renewable energy developers in the world.
